Postdoctoral Position in Structural Biology of Disordered Proteins by NMR

A 2-year post-doctoral position funded by the EpiGenMed Labex program is available to work in the “Highly Flexible Proteins” group lead by Pau Bernadó at the Centre de Biochime Structurale (CBS) in Montpellier (France).

Project: The project focuses in deciphering the structural bases of the regulation of Nuclear Receptor gene transcription by Intrinsically Disordered co-regulator proteins. This is an interdisciplinary project that will be performed in collaboration with other groups at the CBS including the crystallography of Nuclear Receptors (William Bourguet) and molecular simulations (Alessandro Barducci) groups. Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) will be the main experimental technique used to develop the project. NMR will be combined with Small-Angle X-ray Scattering (SAXS), computational approaches and other biophysical techniques.

Candidate: The successful candidate should have a PhD in chemistry, biology or physics and a solid background in solution state biomolecular NMR spectroscopy. Experience in protein expression, purification and biophysical characterization is strongly recommended. Knowledge in other techniques such as SAXS and computational methods will be favourably considered.

Environment: The laboratory hosts high-field state-of-the-art NMR spectrometers for biomolecular applications: A 800 MHz and a 700 MHz both equipped with cryoprobes and a 600 MHz. In addition to NMR, the CBS has an outstanding infrastructure covering all techniques for structural biology and biophysics including X-ray crystallography, cryo-electron microscopy, advanced fluorescence and super-resolution microscopes, single-molecule manipulation, molecular and cell biology, and high-performance computation.

Montpellier is a major biology area with a focus on basic research, biomedicine, plant biology and environmental science. Its science drive, the beauty of the region, its high quality of life, and the short commute to other major regional research areas (Paris, Barcelona, Toulouse, Marseille) make it an ideal destination for scientists from all over the world.
